Hello everybody!
This is about the Secret Santa thing I suggested, and I thought I'd post a poll for you, so that I know how many are interested. So please, let me know! For this things to take off there has to be a certain number of participants.

I changed my vote to in real life gifts because I realized I'm pretty good with making T-shirts.
And I had to look up irl in urban dictionary...haha

Count me in! I can write stories like crazy or make little Abarat crafts to send in real life - the crafts I think some of you guys would be totally interested, but I don't want to say or else it'd be spoiled! Let's just say one of my friends sells stuff at conventions, so I have access to a huge range of tools from a button press to a keychain maker XD

Sorry Requiax! I revert to netspeech sometime haha! XD This is amazing, you guys! I'm so impressed with your various craft skills! Lol, can you imagine if this happens how awesome it will be to admire everybody's gifts during the Holiday? For those of you who would be okay with/prefer to make irl gifts, are you alright with overseas shipping? I have no idea at all which countries we're talking about here. I'm in Sweden, for example. Okay, here's what I'm probably going to do: When I put the official Secret Santa Sign Up Post up and ask for PMs with specific information I'll probably include the option to choose either irl gifts, internet gifts or both and match people according to their preferences. That way everybody can participate. Still, I'll leave this poll up for another week or so because I hope for a few more participants. Also, if you know a member who would probably enjoy this but for some reason don't log in as often anymore, please contact them so they don't miss out.

I don't mind shipping worldwide, as long as the gifts are fair with some quality control, you know? Like if I spend real money sending to another country and get someone cropping an Abarat painting as an "icon" or "banner" without any editing done, then I'll probably be a little bummed. I know it's about giving and not receiving, but can we all agree to put genuine effort into this instead of just signing up to lazily get presents?

Oh absolutely! Those comfortable with internet gifts will give and receive such gifts, and the same goes for those who prefer irl gifts(otherwise it wouldn't really be fair). I don't think (at least I hope not) that anybody here would sign up to "lazily get presents" but either way everybody who signs up is expected to put some genuine effort into the gift they make. I kind of hope that's crystal to everyone, but maybe I'm too trusting.

I wouldn't mind internet gifts! Like if someone drew a picture or wrote a story or did something that obviously took time. What I mean is if I'm going to spend real life monies to ship something, I'd prefer if I didn't get something effortless back ^_^
So guys if you join, put effort into it. If you're lazy, don't join. Please? :3

Let me get this straight: since we need to know addresses, we'll know who our secret santa is before we receive our present? I would have enjoyed it being a mystery until it showed up on my doorstep, but I totally understand the reasoning. I don't exactly want my address posted up on the internet either.

That can be avoided if everyone who signs up who is interested in receiving real life gifts sends their addresses to a middleman (perhaps Lady of Midnight or Munana or myself). That way when the Secret Santas are assigned, this person could send private messages out with the address that person specifically needs.
Also I have a request: Can this be started perhaps sometime in November? If we have people from various countries participating, it would be nice to be able to work on our gift and send it out in time for them to receive it for Christmas. From my experience, shipping to other countries can take two or three weeks, and it'd be a shame for them not to get the gift by the holidays.

It seems like we have enough to go through with this! Alright, here's what will happen: I will post an official Secret Santa Sign Up Post with instructions, and everybody who wants to participate will comment AND send me a PM with the specific information I ask for (i.e postal address, wishlist etc...). Requiax: Nobody (except for me) will know who their Secret Santa is, so no surprise will be ruined. I'll match people up depending on what they offer and what they wish for and send out the giftee's wishlist and address to the gifter only. So you won't know who got your address until Christmas, you'll only know who YOU'RE sending to. Abaratian: We'll have plenty of time! I was thinking I post the Sign Up post either tonight or tomorrow (probably tomorrow) and the Sign Up closes October 25th. It gives everybody ten days to sign up. After that I'll match people up and everybody will have their assignments by Halloween. Sounds good? I welcome suggestions!
