I never knew the stories started from his paintings. I guess that is why it takes so long to write the books...because its more about the paintings than the story line.
I really liked reading that. Thanks for posting!

No spoilers in it, it was mostly a general discussion on a multitude of topics. Feel free to read it if you haven't read the book yet! I like how he stood up for video games I wouldn't exactly call myself a gamer, but I do appreciate them.

I think it is amazing how the Abarat just came out of 1 painting. Kaspers which is shown in the first one. And how that it was meant to be just one book. It shows if you want to be a writer how much of one story, one world you can make. It's inspirational its great!

It's sad to read in the latest official Clive Barker interview that is posted on the official web site, that currently it causes Clive a lot of pain to write. He is now using his keyboard to write instead. Such a shame as he always has written his novels and stories etc by hand. Also, its sad to read about the other physical and emotional pain he has been through over the last few years. All that combined with the publisher issues, its no wonder Abarat 3 was a long time coming. I was saddened that the interview contained no updates on situation with his adult fiction and the publisher issue. It is good to know that he is at work on Abarat 4. Anyone else read the interview? Any comments? Beware, there are one or two Abarat 3 spoilers contained within the text of the interview.

True, there are spoilers in the revelations interview, and I'd beware of it until later. Nothing too specific however. It is crazy how terrible his life has been over the past few years. I had no idea that something bad happened with his husband...and when I read that..I didn't know what to think. Because I don't know the details. But with how true Clive is to himself and how hard he works...whoever is in his life better love him for exactly who he is. But I was glad to hear that he's happier now.
I was excited to hear that he'd written a prologue. He gave one or two spoilers for 4, so, I'm guessing we're going to have to start a spoiler board for book 4 soon! Well, perhaps starting next year. Let's just ride the wave of 3 for awhile.
And I can understand where he's coming from when he says that writing sometimes takes time. I know that sometimes I can't continue a story until I've matured enough to be able to write it the way it should be written. Abarat 3 was supposed to be terrible and dark, and to write something like that you'd just have to be living in a whole new space in your head.
Interesting conversations about other movies and such. Can't believe he didn't like Harry Potter! I sort of liked the ending. The second to last was better though, I agree.
