So, guys, I know we're all getting excited. With the recent publishing or Beneath the Surface of Clive Barker's Abarat and the nearing release date of the third book in the series, our thoughts our buzzing. It's time to address spoilers, I think.
thefreedictionary.com defines spoilers as
Except in our case, of course, it's a book and not a movie.
The Lady of Midnight is working on getting spoiler tags in the posts. Once the button is added, you are expected to use it. We don't want any surprises divulged to those who are avoiding spoilers! For example, if Candy dies in the next book, don't mention Candy's death outside of the spoiler tag.
If you'd like to make an entire thread addressing something with spoilers, please put the word "spoilers" somehow clearly in the title of the thread, and the rest of the title should remain vague. In the example above, a thread titled "SPOILERS - CANDY'S DEATH" would still be unacceptable. Something more like "SPOILERS - What happened to Candy" or "Spoilers - Candy's Fate" would be more appropriate.
I'm excited that the time has come for us to address this!
Eventually, I'm sure a date will be decided when spoiler tags are no longer necessary. Perhaps a few months after the book has been released, giving everyone ample time to have read the book. After that date, it'll really be every man for themselves. If you end up not reading the book for a few years, we can't just keep using spoiler tags for the behalf of one individual. We love you all, but I hope you can understand there's a point where spoiler tags will be more of a pain than a necessity. However, for now spoiler tags are a requirement. We don't want to "divulge a surprise" for anyone here.
Lady of Midnight, I hope I've covered everything!
And if there are any questions regarding spoilers, please ask them here!
