This certainly looks interesting...I'm unsure of what exactly to expect, but I suppose I'll buy the digital version.

I have a question. I am not very familiar with book digital copies. Do these only work on things like ipod touch and kindle? Could I download it straight for my laptop? or on some other device? Any information would be helpful Thanks

The book is on a website. You buy the book and then you can view it through the website. So you can see it on any laptop or computer (but I don't think cell phones or ipads have the applications to run the program).
Also... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE BUYS THIS BOOK UNLESS THEY WANT SPOILERS.
It is absolutely full of "spoilers" - it doesn't tell exactly what happens, but Clive will say "theres a conflict between ____ and ____ but I won't say why" and I loooooove hearing it but I know some people won't want spoilers like that.

If you'd like, since you can't buy it just now, I can sum up some of the coolest stuff in a spoiler post so you can get some of the news/info in the meantime. Just let me know though, I'm willing to help you to some degree. Most of the book is impossible to share, I think, without reading it. Like the new paintings we've never seen before. But then it gives a history of Hark's Harbor, there's some insight on how Clive started writing Abarat and how he got his ideas, and there's a really cool glossary of Abaratian terms in the back. But the meat of the book, the best part of it, is the interview with some middle school kids. They ask questions that we've been wondering all the time (like how does Carrion eat around his collar? where is Carrion's father?) and some kids ask really insightful questions (is Finnegan going to end up like an epic hero?). The answers are amazing to finally see
