I don't think most of this is necessarily "new," but I had never seen it before and I wanted to share my discovery in case you guys hadn't either. Here is some sketches for the covers and title pages of Absolute Midnight: www.clivebarker.info/midnightcomp.htmlAnd an interesting quote from an interview. I knew this next book was going to be the darkest, but I didn't realize it would be Hellraiser dark "I can tell you that the third instalment is called Absolute Midnight and it is the darkest of the lot so far - in fact I think even the old Hellraiser mob will get a kick out of it. I initially aimed Abarat at younger readers but I have discovered that my adult audience has been taking great pleasure from them too." - CB And something that I noticed on CB's website is that the painting we're all familiar with of Christopher Carrion is titled "Christopher Carrion in Old Age" meaning... I'm not sure what, but apparently he can get senior discounts? Hahaha But seriously I had always imagined that he was in his 40s but I don't think that qualifies anyone as "in Old Age," especially since the artist himself is older than that.

Woah! 40's?? Ive always imagined more like 30's. I figured (Ive spent wayyy too much time thinking about this...) that maybe he loved Boa around 18-20, which meant that since she died 16 years before the novel, he's placed around 34-36. But maybe it says an age and I missed it.
But yeah! That one picture, of the monkey-like guy holding the fire has been the one picture Ive been DYING to understand. I dont know why, but Im drawn to it... Something tells me it might be important.

I totally agree with you carrionsprincess, I have always put Carrion in his mid to late thirties, so when I first saw the "carrion in old age" title, I'm like what the hell?
About the picture, it is totally important, I'm sure it has something with absoulute midnight, if not the bringer of it itself.

there were notes somewhere that said "Night is carried like a black banner" or something like that I have completely forgotten so I think that calling him the bringer of it is appropriate just based on that
Im not positive where I saw that though. It was on a sketch.
