I was googling for new Abarat info, and came across this picture by Clive Barker. Supposedly on exibit in a gallery somewhere, along with a load of stuff for Midnight Meat train. If I'm not mistaken, I spy the same ajoining corridors of Gorgossium towers. This pic is not labeled as being an Abarat illistration, but its basically the same picture we've seen before, only on fire. I have my fingers crossed that CC is getting some revenge! I'm sure he wouldn't be against buring that place down, it wasn't excatly a happy home for him. Then again it could any number of possibilities...

Actually I found this a while ago on Barker's illustrations page. As far as I can tell, it IS Gorgossium burning, and when I found it I had a giant mope-fest, because Mater Motley had said she wanted the towers destroyed at the end of book 2 and here it is T___T

Well she said she wanted to destroy all the towers but the thirteenth and quote "several battalions of stitchlings began the demolition of all towers but the thirteenth...destroying in the process every piece of furniture on which Christopher Carrion had slept, sat..." etc etc. In this it did not mention burning anything, and did not mention destroying all the towers- in the picture, clearly all towers are burning. I believe this may be something else other than MM destruction.

What if it's like a flashback pic to when Mater Motley burnt down their first home and only she and Christopher escaped the fire? I suppose it does look a lot like Gorgossium, but maybe their old home was built similarly? It could be like... maybe his aforementioned missing father is telling the story to Candy and the crew?
Or maybe Candy and the crew are burning it down?
We have nothing but speculation. We don't even really necessarily know that this is a scene from one of the next books. It might just be a painting Clive did of the towers burning.
