In the small amount of Abarat fanfiction I've seen, Candy and Boa always seem to be paired with the same person. Which, I suppose, could happen. But they ARE two separate people; Candy has her own personality separate from Boa's.
I've never been one for romantic drama, but it strikes me that it'd be WAY more interesting if they love someone else. Say, BoaxFinnegan (Distasteful, but it IS canon) and CandyxMalingo (my own personal favorite). Uber-conflict. Basically the only way to resolve it is to either kill off Boa or Candy entirely, or to get Boa her own body.
Thoughts?

I've always felt this way. I think of Boa and Candy as completely separate people, with completely separate personalities. CandyxMalingo is my personal favorite, too, and I've always imagined that Boa would fight tooth and nail to prevent Candy from ending up with Malingo, a lowly geshrat.

they are different people, but candy seems to be starting to blend with boa, especially in the last book where she rejected Carrion and used magic. This really scares me, because boa is taking over Candy's life slowly, and eventually this could lead to a major internal struggle, where only one will survive. I hope Candy wins.

Agreed. Boa's had one lifetime already, even if it was short. No matter how long, she doesn't have the right to take over Candy's body.
Plus, I just like Candy better. Boa always struck me as the sort of person who's been glorified by a young death. I mean, she must have been loved, but tragedy, and the whole young-love bit... Well, people tend to forget.
Case in point: George Bush. Everyone hated him when he was in office ('specially towards the end), but now Obama's in office, well...
