Okay, so good question that no one has asked
do you like:
The first book better
OR
the second book better
Personally, I like the first one slightly better beacuse of it's dreamy mood and the detail of discovering the Abarat. However, the second comes a very very close second, being full of action, darker mood and secrets being revealed. What are your thoughts?

I prefer the second book. Candy seems so young in book one, and everything is an adventure. Book two makes the Abarat more real, it's dark and dangerous and everyone has their own agendas. The art work in book two is more 'complex' as well I think. Bit of a difficult question to answer this one! ;D

Hm. From a literary standpoint, the second one's probably a better novel...
On the other hand, I much prefer to read the first one. :3
Rather in the sense that Neil Gaiman's a better writer than Terry Pratchett, but Pratchett's way more fun to read.

I love them both, so this was really hard, but in the end I decided that I liked the second one better. There was more drama and action in the second book, plus we got introduced to a handful of new, incredible characters and were revisited by our old favorites.

great points guys, It's so interesting to see your takes, and I am seeing each book slightly different now, weird that only a few comments makes a change in point of view. (sorry if I sound weird, tired)

Not at all, worldfantasygirl.
Both books, are awesome, obviously, but I like the second one better. It's deeper, and a lot darker than the first, which is an adventure, like you said redstockings. While I love a good adventure, I prefer stories with a bit more meaning to them. Stories that make me want to cry, or scream, or go find other relating coincidences. (Reverberating... r-e-v-e-r-b-e-r-a-t-i-n-g... 13... Melissa... Midnight... Wow. Awesome!) Um... What was I saying.... Oh. But yeah, both are good.
