Synopsis: Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home. In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal d**nation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?
Thoughts: Sam Raimi is practically a legend. There's no way I'm not excited for this. Whether he's doing serious work, or just messing around with a camera, the product is always something worth watching. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Synopsis: From Pixar comes “Up,” a comedy adventure about 78 year old balloon salesman Carl Fredericksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the director of Monster's Inc, Up invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth.
Thoughts: Pixar's got it down. They know how to take just about any story and make it extraordinarily fun. I trust them with almost anything and this one is no exception. Now, despite that fact, I can see UP being the kind of movie that dreamers love, and the rest of the population sort of disregards and pays little attention to. I don't know why, but when watching the trailer that's the impression I get.
movies.apple.com/movies/paramount/star_trek/startrek-tlr3_h480p.mov
Synopsis: A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members.
Thoughts: I don't know much about Star Trek, I've never really been a fan, but this movie looks like it will push the series to new limits. Will I go out of my way to see it? Probably not, but I'll probably rent it when it comes out on video to see Scylar and Harold do some new types of acting.
Synopsis: An elite military unit comprised of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, operating out of The Pit, takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer.
Thoughts: Dude. C'mon. Look at that sexy CG action sequences. This movie is going to be bad ass.
Synopsis: pace-time vortexes suck. Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world—a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost. Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally—a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone)—to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they’re heroes. Get stuck, and they’ll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost. Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid & Marty Krofft.
Thoughts: This looks to me like the kind of movie Will Ferrel fans will get, and no one else, lol. Plus, I love Danny McBride.
Synopsis: In the highly-anticipated “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” debuting June 26, 2009, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) again joins with the Autobots against their sworn enemies, the Decepticons. Michael Bay directs from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger & Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman.
Thoughts: Darker, Dirtier, more fights, more action, more of everything that made the first one worth watching. I'm excited for this.
Synopsis: When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.
Thoughts: I am more excited for this film than any other coming out this year. It will set new standards for animated film making, and I say that without an inch of doubt. Get ready. This will rock your face. If you want to watch the short film, it's available on youtube here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=964QHmjLqa0
movies.apple.com/movies/wb/terminatorsalvation/terminatorsalvation-tlr3_480p.mov
Synopsis: John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Thoughts: When I first saw the teaser trailer of Terminator IV, I thought the only thing it had going for it was Christian Bale.
Then I saw the new trailer, which I've linked to under the title, and, maybe not completely, but for the most part, those worries have been lifted. What I'm actually looking forward to most is the way it's shot. That grainy, washed-out look seems perfect for the type of movie this hints to being.
Synopsis: Leading up to the events of X-MEN, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE tells the story of Wolverine’s epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe whose appearances in the film series have long been anticipated.
Thoughts: Yes, Wolverine rocks, no two ways about it, but when I saw this trailer, only one name was I yelling with excitement: GAMBIT!!! He's always been my favourite mutant, and always will be. So yes, I will be seeing this movie.
Synopsis: In this high-octane sequel, hitman Chev Chelios’ (Statham) launches himself on an electrifying chase through Los Angeles in pursuit of the Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart.
Thoughts: Ever since I saw the first Crank, somewhere back in my mind I heard the whisper of a desire muttering, "sequel... sequel...", but I quieted that voice as soon as I could, remembering how unnecessary sequels had been the downfall of many-a action series. This sequel, however, looks like it could preserve the spirit of the first film in perfection, and may perhaps even surpass it in ridiculousness.
Synopsis: A middle-aged slacker living in a rundown, graffiti-ridden slum, Daisato’s job involves being shocked by bolts of electricity that transform him into a stocky, stick-wielding giant several stories high who is entrusted with defending Japan from a host of bizarre monsters. But while his predecessors were national heroes, he is a pariah among the citizens he protects, who bitterly complain about the noise and destruction of property he causes. And Daisato has his own problems -an agent insistent on branding him with sponsor advertisements, an Alzheimer-afflicted grandfather who transforms into a giant in dirty underwear, and a family who is embarrassed by his often cowardly exploits. A wickedly deadpan spin on the giant Japanese superhero, BIG MAN JAPAN is an outrageous portrait of a pathetic but truly unique hero.
Thoughts: This looks hilarious. I've never seen a movie quite like this before, and that's really what excites me about it more than anything else. It's new, it's the first of its kind, and it looks quite good.
movies.apple.com/movies/wb/observeandreport/observeandreport-tlr1_480p.mov
Synopsis: At the Forest Ridge Mall, head of security Ronnie Barnhardt patrols his jurisdiction with an iron fist, combating skateboarders, shoplifters and the occasional unruly customer while dreaming of the day when he can swap his flashlight for a badge and a gun. His delusions of grandeur are put to the test when the mall is struck by a flasher. Driven to protect and serve the mall and its patrons, Ronnie seizes the opportunity to showcase his underappreciated law enforcement talents on a grand scale, hoping his solution of this crime will earn a coveted spot at the police academy and the heart of his elusive dream girl Brandi, the hot make-up counter clerk who won’t give him the time of day. But his single-minded pursuit of glory launches a turf war with the equally competitive Detective Harrison of the Conway Police, and Ronnie is confronted with the challenge of not only catching the flasher, but getting him before the real cops do.
Thoughts: Seth Rogen has been asking for a movie of his own, and now that he has it he doesn't seem to be letting it go to waste. I'm quite happy about that, and despite how most of the trailer would just be serious situations in real life, it'll be hilarious on the big screen.
movies.apple.com/movies/miramax/adventureland/adventureland-tlr1r_480p.mov
Synopsis: It’s the summer of 1987, and James Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg), an uptight recent college grad, can’t wait to embark on his dream tour of Europe. But when his parents (Wendie Malick and Jack Gilpin) announce they can no longer subsidize his trip, James has little choice but to take a lowly job at a local amusement park. Forget about German beer, world-famous museums and cute French girls-James’ summer will now be populated by belligerent dads, stuffed pandas, and screaming kids high on cotton candy. Lucky for James, what should have been his worst summer ever turns into quite an adventure as he discovers love in the most unlikely place with his captivating co-worker Em (Kristen Stewart), and learns to loosen up.
Thoughts: Lots of small-name to no-name actors and actresses in this one, but the script seems solid, as do the characters.
movies.apple.com/movies/samuel_goldwyn/americanviolet/americanviolet_480p.mov
Synopsis: Based on true events in the midst of the 2000 election, AMERICAN VIOLET tells the astonishing story of Dee Roberts (critically hailed newcomer Nicole Beharie), a 24 year-old African American single mother of four young girls living in a small Texas town who is barely making ends meet on a waitress’ salary and government subsidies. On an early November morning while Dee works a shift at the local diner, the powerful local district attorney (Academy AwardR nominee Michael O’Keefe) leads an extensive drug bust, sweeping her Arlington Springs housing project with military precision. Police drag Dee from work in handcuffs, dumping her in the squalor of the women’s county prison. Indicted based on the uncorroborated word of a single and dubious police informant facing his own drug charges, Dee soon discovers she has been charged as a drug dealer. Even though Dee has no prior drug record and no drugs were found on her in the raid or any subsequent searches, she is offered a hellish choice: plead guilty and go home as a convicted felon or remain in prison and fight the charges thus, jeopardizing her custody and risking a long prison sentence. Despite the urgings of her mother (Academy AwardR nominee Alfre Woodard), and with her freedom and the custody of her children at stake, she chooses to fight the district attorney and the unyielding criminal justice system he represents. Joined in an unlikely alliance with an ACLU attorney (Tim Blake Nelson) and former local narcotics officer (Will Patton), Dee risks everything in a battle that forever changes her life and the Texas justice system. AMERICAN VIOLET also stars Emmy Award winner Charles S. Dutton and Xzibit.
Thoughts: This looks like drama at its best. What's even more powerful is the true story behind it.
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/thecakeeaters/thecakeeaters_h.640.mov
Synopsis: Mary Stuart Masterson’s directorial debut is a romantic drama set in a small town where the intimate secrets and tensions of two families force them to come to terms with life, love and death. Written by Jayce Bartok, the dynamic ensemble cast features Kristen Stewart, Aaron Stanford, Bruce Dern, Elizabeth Ashley and Melissa Leo. Original music composition by Tony Award Winner Duncan Sheik.
Thoughts: This looks adorable, :3
movies.apple.com/movies/sony_pictures/thetakingofpelham123/thetakingofpelham123-tlr1_480p.mov
Synopsis: In The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Denzel Washington stars as New York City subway dispatcher Walter Garber, whose ordinary day is thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a subway train. John Travolta stars as Ryder, the criminal mastermind who, as leader of a highly-armed gang of four, threatens to execute the train’s passengers unless a large ransom is paid within one hour. As the tension mounts beneath his feet, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder and save the hostages. But there’s one riddle Garber can't solve: even if the thieves get the money, how can they possibly escape?
Thoughts: This looks like the kind of film that keeps you tense from the start of the action to its conclusion. Something I'm usually not the kind of moviegoer for, but John Travolta and Denzel Washington are just so good at any role thrown at them that this film I just can't resist.
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/tokyo/tokyo_480p.mov
Synopsis: In TOKYO!, three visionary directors come together for an omnibus triptych examining the nature of one unforgettable city as it’s shaped by the disparate people who live, work (and run amok) inside an enormous, constantly evolving, densely populated Japanese megalopolis — the ravishing and inimitable Tokyo. In the tradition of such films as NEW YORK STORIES, NIGHT ON EARTH, PARIS JE T’AIME and its forthcoming sequel NEW YORK I LOVE YOU, TOKYO! addresses the timeless question of whether we shape cities, or if cities shape us — in the process revealing the rich humanity at the heart of modern urban life.
Thoughts: Just. Amazing. So surreal. Something that fans of Abarat will enjoy for sure.
movies.apple.com/movies/summit/astroboy/astroboy-tsr_480p.mov
Synopsis: A thrilling tale of a true hero, Astro Boy is an all-new, feature film full of action, adventure, humor and heart. It will be brought to life on the big screen in breathtaking CGI animation on October 23rd, 2009. Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive “blue” energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly. Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a hero.
Thoughts: Eh. Uh. Meh. Not sure what to think of this quite yet. We'll wait until more of the plot is revealed.
movies.apple.com/movies/sony/12/12_480p.mov
Synopsis: 12 characters. 12 truths. The story of 12 jurors discussing a verdict to pass on an 18 year old Chechen boy whether he is guilty of 1st degree murder of his step-father — an officer of the Russian army. The film thinks aloud about today's life, about the need to hear the next of kin and help that person before its too late. The action of the picture unveils in one room — a gym adjusted for jury deliberations.
Thoughts: An adaptation of 12 Angry Men that looks like it could be absolutely captivating, or unbelievably boring and melodramatic. I hope it to be the latter.
movies.apple.com/movies/magnolia_pictures/edenlog/edenlog_480p.mov
Synopsis: A man wakes up deep inside a cave. Suffering amnesia, he has no recollection of how he came to be here or of what happened to the man whose body he finds beside him. Tailed by a mysterious creature, he must continue through this strange and fantastic world. Enclosed, Tolbiac has no other option to reach the surface than to use REZO ZERO, secret observing cells in this cemetery-like abandoned mine. He embarks upon this journey guided by the roots of a plant, leading the way and the main subject of attention of the REZO.
Thoughts: I don't know what the hell is going on in this trailer, but d**n does it look surreal and just plain freaky. In a good way,
movies.apple.com/movies/sony/ohorten/ohorten_480p.mov
Synopsis: The moment the train leaves the station without engineer ODD HORTEN (Bard Owe) aboard, he realizes that the path ahead is a journey without printed timetables and well-known stations. Horten has been forced to retire after 40 years of traveling a very stable rail, and the platform does not feel like a safe place anymore. His orderly, solitary existence is about to give way to a future of unlikely adventures and puzzling dilemmas: will Horten ever travel by plane? Will he finally sell his prized boat? How does Horten end up in a pair of women’s red high-heeled shoes? Will he survive a nighttime drive with a blindfolded man at the wheel? Proof positive that there is humor to be found in aging, and we don’t have to be elderly Norwegians to identify, laugh and embrace life in all its idiosyncratic splendor. O’HORTEN is Bent Hamer’s wonderfully skewed view of the human condition and gives us that somewhat absurdist vision with great warmth, a little melancholy and universal appeal.
Thoughts: This looks absolutely charming.
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/babysitterwanted/babysitterwanted_480p.mov
Synopsis: A new life is starting for Angie, who’s leaving the embrace of her Catholic mother for college studies. She applies for a baby-sitting job and finds herself on a remote farm before the Stanton family and their adorable little boy. But Angie’s first night of work might be her last. Alone in the sprawling and remote house, anonymous phone calls begin to shatter her peace of mind. Babysitter Wanted turns one of the most tried and true of all horror movie conventions-the babysitter in peril-absolutely on its head, and twists it into something entirely new and different. Suspenseful, funny, gory, and defying expectations every step of the way, this is one of the most enjoyable roller-coaster rides in recent horror cinema history.
Thoughts: I'm a lover of the horror genre, and this looks quite good. Kind of like Halloween for a new generation I think.
Synopsis: Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn’t. This post modern love story is never what we expect it to be — it’s thorny yet exhilarating, funny and sad, a twisted journey of highs and lows that doesn’t quite go where we think it will. When Tom, a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, is blindsided after his girlfriend Summer dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days “together” to try to figure out where things went wrong. His reflections ultimately lead him to finally rediscover his true passions in life.
Thoughts: (see the thoughts on The Cake Eaters)
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/alientrespass/alientrespass_h.640.mov?width=640&height=340
Synopsis: Set in 1957, ALIEN TRESPASS chronicles a fiery object from space that crashes into a mountaintop in the California desert, bringing the threat of disaster to Earth. Out of the flying saucer escapes a murderous creature - the Ghota, which is bent on destroying all life forms on the planet. A benevolent alien from the spaceship, Urp, inhabits the body of Ted Lewis (Eric McCormack) - a local astronomer - and with the help of Tammy, (Jenni Baird) a waitress from the local diner, sets out to save mankind.
Thoughts: Usually I think these kinds of movies are extremely stupid, but... I dunno. This one looks different for some reason, :/
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/pandorum/pandorum_480p.mov
Synopsis: From the creators of the Resident Evil film franchise comes Pandorum, a terrifying thriller in which two crew members wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they’ve been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they’re actually not alone — and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.
Thoughts: z0mg. I just... aaaaahhhhh. This looks like the kind of movie that makes you just as frightened as confused as the characters in it. I'm so pumped for this one.
SO THAT'S IT FOR NOW!!! If you read all those and watched each of those trailers you need a hobby. That is not watching trailers. JUST KIDDING. If you read all those and watched all those then you're awesome,
So, yeah! Tell us your thoughts! Share some trailers! Say something worth saying! I'm not writing these ridiculously long threads for nothing! ^_^

Adventureland (April/3/09):
movies.apple.com/movies/miramax/adventureland/adventureland-tlr1r_480p.mov

American Violet (April/17/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/samuel_goldwyn/americanviolet/americanviolet_480p.mov

The Taking of Pelham 123 (June/12/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/sony_pictures/thetakingofpelham123/thetakingofpelham123-tlr1_480p.mov

Tokyo! (March/6/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/tokyo/tokyo_480p.mov

12 (March/4/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/sony/12/12_480p.mov

Eden Log (?/?/??)
movies.apple.com/movies/magnolia_pictures/edenlog/edenlog_480p.mov

O'Horton (May/15/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/sony/ohorten/ohorten_480p.mov

Babysitter Wanted (Feb/6/09)
movies.apple.com/movies/independent/babysitterwanted/babysitterwanted_480p.mov

Thoughts: z0mg. I just... aaaaahhhhh. This looks like the kind of movie that makes you just as frightened as confused as the characters in it. I'm so pumped for this one.
