Sweet Idea! Let's see... 1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time?I read it in 2002, when I was in like 7th or 8th grade. I saw a girl reading it on the bus one day and the cover art was like amazing to me. As soon as she returned it to our school library, I went and checked it out. 2. Who is your favorite character and why? This is weird, but recently I've been really digging Leeman Vol (obviously). I am so completely horrified of insects... so he's like the perfect villain for me. He is the epitome of fear, in my opinion. Just thinking about living with so many bugs in and on you sends chills down my spine. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why?Honestly... I think maybe Finnegan Hobb. He's going around slaughtering this entire species of animal just because one wronged him. And the thing is, these aren't like wild boar or deer he's going out and hunting, these are sentient creatures that think, speak, and feel. Plus, he's struck me as kind of rude and melodramatic. I don't HATE him, though. There's no Abarat character I hate, I just like Finnegan the least. (Admittedly, Boa's a pretty close second) 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why.I think Babilonium. Circuses and amusement parks and freak shows... all of that stuff sounds so fun and interesting to me! I wouldn't want to live on Babilonium, but I would go there every weekend, if I could! 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come?Um... I suppose Pyon just because of Rojo Pixler. 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? Then only thing I would change is how long it's taken to get this third book out! So Let’s Get To Know Each Other Age: 20 Country/City/Nationality: Atlanta, Georgia in the United States 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^Well, I go to school two days a week at a university. I'm studying to major in English Education and become... well... an English teacher! I hope to be able to write on the side, because I love writing. I'm currently unemployed - I just quit my job at a Panera and before I worked at an animal clinic were I was left in charge of running the kennels (where people leave their pets while they go on vacation). I loved it, but the people I worked with were kind of weird and obnoxious, but I'm thinking of going back. In my free time, I love to watch movies and television and I'm a HUGE video game geek. I think most people I meet don't realize this about me, but I am a huge gamer (I have a video game tatto!!!) On weekends I like to go out with friends, sometimes to do cityfolk stuff like partying like crazy or going to the mall, but often we go camping, fishing, swimming, etc... We also love going to concerts! 8. What’s your favorite music?I love most music. My favorite bands are probably... OkGo, Maroon 5, The Killers, No Doubt, VAST, Muse... the list can go on and on. As you can tell, I mostly like pop and rock, but I also love hip hop (I love Chris Brown and Rihanna, it's a shame what happened), country, classical... I'm also secretly a fan of music from Disney movies or musicals D: 9. And your favorite books/authors?I'd say my favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, William Shakespeare and Clive Barker. Aside from books by those guys, my favorites are The Little Prince by Antoin du Saint Exupery, The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, and the Cirque du Freak series by Darren Shan. 10. And your favorite movies?Basically my three favorite movies aren't even in English Pan's Labyrinth, The Devil's Backbone, and The Orphanage I also love Spirited Away, which wasn't originally in English either! But I am a huge horror movie fan. Especially Saw. And slasher movies - I completely adore Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. 11. Other stuff you love?Video games, as I said. I play at least an hour a day. Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda, Left 4 Dead, Jericho (a Clive Barker game!), old school Mario games, Siren, Jak and Daxter series, Grand Theft Auto, Sims... the list can go on forever. I currently own a Wii, Xbox 360, PS2 (haven't got 3 yet, don't really want to as of now), Nintendo 64 and SNES, plus a DS and a PSP. I also love going to conventions. I think I'm as deep in the Nerd closet as humanly possible. However, because of these conventions, I've met most of my favorite celebrities, PLUS I've talked to Clive Barker on the phone. So I'm not TOO ashamed. 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share?I think I've covered most of it! 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must.Nothing, really. I live with my grandma, so most of the stuff in my house was decorated and arranged by her. I don't have a lot of personal touches, even in my bedroom. 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us?I've written fanfics. The only decent one is already posted up here. I make icons, but meh... nothing fabulous. Maybe I'll post them up one day. But my speshul talents... I'm really flexible. You could not beat me at a game of Twister unless you were a geshrat! Plus, I can lick my nose. AND my elbow, which is supposedly humanly impossible. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about.Um... I don't know? Here's a rec: Rescue a pet! There are too many kitties and puppies in shelters for you to be wasting hundreds and hundreds (possibly even thousands) of dollars buying a purebred! lol Furreals though. I have two dogs, one of them was bought for me as a kid, but the second one I personally adopted this summer. She's my little buddy, and I only spent 50 bucks on her. Plus, I saved her from being put to sleep. 16. Last words?wumbo

LOL it seems as if we have very similar taste in the aspects of the books, especially #4 and #5! ;D Ahaha, after reading this, I immediately tried to lick my elbow. It wasn't a success. I'd adopt a pet if I could, but my tiny apartment can only hold my chinchilla, and he's getting a bigger cage soon too... ah well. It's awesome that you used to work in an animal clinic. I admire people who take care of animals. <3

ABARAT - That Big Thing We All Have In Common
1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time?I meant to do it for a long time, forgot about it, then finally picked it up (in Swedish)in the local library back in January. I read it in a week, then read number two the week after. Upon learning that the third book wasn't available I was horrified but decided to buy the books in English and reread them. And as with Harry Potter, I immediately started searching high and low on the internet for an Abarat fandom to join. I found you guys. <3 2. Who is your favorite character and why?Christopher Carrion quickly became my favorite character. He's sadistic and cruel, but also very emotional, something I feel villains often lack in. Contrary to a lot of other villains (I do seem to get attached to the 'wrong' characters;)) he's very human and that makes him endearing in a way. You're left with a feeling that had things gone just a little bit differently, he had ended up in another outfit. Which is too bad, because I really like this one. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why?Oh god, that has to be Candy's drunken bastard of a dad. I violently dislike that character because, well, I have no sympathy at all for people who beat their children. To be completely honest, my black little heart hopes for a painful end for him in the next book. 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why.Oh, Babilonium! I love the dark carnival feeling, it reminds me of Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. Also, well, I've had quite a carnival obsession since I was a little kid. I love carousels and different rides, I love the feeling of adventure and happiness that rolls through the air... I could imagine living there. Lol, I even based Morgan's dance on my own. I bellydance and would have nothing against making a living on that island. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? That has got to be Pyon, since Pixel sunk his plastic claws into it. Go Carrion Go! Take it all back! *cheers the dark prince on* 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story?Nothing, really. It's Clive Barker's creation. But if I had to make a wish... I'd wish for a character and a subplot that would show Carrion some love. ;3 So Let’s Get To Know Each Other Age: 27 (is it old in here or is it just me?) Country/City/Nationality: Malmo, Sweden 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^Right now I'm studying to be an Information Coordinator, which pretty much means anything from a typographer to a graphic designer and so on... and right now I have an internship at a printing office (which is great fun!) and working nights and weekends at a customer support callcenter. In my sleeping hours spare time I write (mostly horror and gay erotica). My dream is to get my books and short stories published, which I'm confident will happen some day. Also, the only physical activity I'm fond of is dancing, and I've been a bellydancer for three years now. I went to Turkey last summer with a bunch of other girls to dance for a number of different teachers. It was awesome. 8. What’s your favorite music?Tori Amos, Dead Can Dance, Kate Bush, Aimee Mann, Alanis Morisette, Katie Melua, Blackmore's Night, Garmarna, Within Temptation, Suzanne Vega, Poe, David Usher and so many more... including musicals and soundtracks, I'm a sucker for those. XD 9. And your favorite books/authors?Terry Pratchett, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, Anais Nin, J.K Rowling, H.P Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Meredith Ann Pierce, Maggie Furey, Jonas Gardell, Astrid Lindgren... but that's only a few. 10. Annd your favorite movies? The Ninth Gate, The Labyrinth, The Legend, Sleepy Hollow, From Dusk til Dawn, Ghostbusters, The Lost Boys, Mists of Avalon, Kill Bill 1 & 2, The Alien Movies. And loads more. (My real guilty pleasure? Dracula-Dead And Loving It. Don't judge... ) 11. Other stuff you love?Besides writing, reading and bellydancing? Let's see... yaoi, drawing/painting, comic books, roleplaying, horror movies and literature, dark folktales, mythology, Eddie Izzard, pens, and downloadable teve series... *coughs* 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share?Er... oops, kind of spoiled it with the previous reply, didn't I? The above mentioned things, plus hanging with my boyfriend and friends. 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must.I'll edit in some pictured later, but my chinchilla sort of reminds me of Abarat. He looks so exotic! XD And I've got some other stuff too, I'll pile them up and do a picspam later. 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us?Haven't written an Abarat fic yet, I'm working too much on my own projects right now, but I've made some graphics (icons and such) that are all here. Nothing fancy, but it's fun and I'm reasonably satisfied with this signature banner. I plan to do some fanart later. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about.Carnivale is one of the best teve series I've ever seen, so I'll rec you that. Unfortunately, they only got to make two seasons before it was canceled but it is wonderful nonetheless! www.hbo.com/carnivale/ <----- check it out! 16. Last words?"I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it." -- (Terry Pratchett, alt.fan.pratchett)

1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time?Over the summer of 7th grade, I was volunteering for the summer reading program at the library. Sitting there by myself, having read the book I brought with me six times, and bored I saw a shiny volume on the shelf that I had never seen before. I picked it out and knew immediately that I had to take it home with me. 2. Who is your favorite character and why?I do like Candy... probably because she always responded to the new and fantastical things like I think I would- by not denying them. Even though this was revealed later to be because of Boa, I still suspect that this behavior is still natural :> Overall my favorite, that I'm always watching out for is Letheo =D I would very much like to hug him. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why?I'd have to agree with Munanna Candy's dad. If there's one thing that makes me tear up in anger, it's crappy parents. He might be forgiven, but I'll be okay if he's not. 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why.I like Nonce. I like its spirituality and how strange things happen on it that are caused by something ethereal. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come?Merr.... Ninnyhammer, because of Malingo. But that's not fair because of Jimothi's awesomeness! 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story?Nothing- it's not my story to decide on things. I just wish it would be written faster D= So Let’s Get To Know Each Other Age: 17.5 Country/City/Nationality: Las Vegas, Nevada 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^I'm a junior in high school. My grades suck because I'm rather an underachiever and I have a life. I play in a youth orchestra and have a job at a grocery store. I don't really have a lot in common with other people because I was raised differently, so I stick with the friends I have. They are such good friends that when I go to count them I think that I have ten when I really have 5 xD 8. What’s your favorite music? My one and only band is Coldplay. I like classical, instrumental, some opera (Bocelli *-*), and radio-grade rock. I also have a love of movie scores, particularly John Williams (yes... I own all 6 Star Wars soundtracks... ) and Joe Hisashi, who composes for Hayao Miyazaki. 9. And your favorite books/authors?Right now I'm really into Tamora Pierce, which I read in middle school and am now rediscovering. I also have Diane Duane's So You Want to Be a Wizard series, and random books that I like. I read fantasy (maybe not as heavy-duty as you guys), romantic anything, and those books where it's realistic and supernatural. I have the same taste in manga as well. I have one bookcase of western books and one bookcase of manga, DVDs and other paraphernalia. Maybe we should have a thread where we can post pictures of our book collections ;D 10. Annd your favorite movies?Oh, jeez. Well... I like Star Wars. I'm also a foaming-at-the-mouth Pixar fan, and Miyazaki. I also like the Bourne trilogy. And Juno (makes me cry every time). And Harry Potter. This could go on for days D: 11. Other stuff you love?My dogs! Being with my friends, playing and listening to music, hiking and nature, traveling, being a mouse potato =D 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share?I lovelovelove MMORPGs. But they suck if there's no one friendly about D: 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must.At a chapel once I saw a piece of driftwood that was in the shape of a cross, that they swore upon pizza was 100% natural. I don't know why that came to mind. 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us?I can whistle like a bird! =D 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about.Well.... okay. These two videos are from The Planets Suite by Gustav Holst. They both never fail to raise goosebumps! The first one, Mars- The Bringer of War, is badass beyond words. The suite was written during WWII, and shocked audiences with its savagery and aggression. It conveys both the violent, explodey parts of conflict and the sneaking, underhanded and inhuman tactics or weapons. John Williams got ideas for Star Wars from this :> Also, you should just pretty much ignore the video. And the random Japanese. It was the only video that took a slow enough tempo. =D www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NeQ1h6lzLIThis one is Jupiter, the Bringer of Joilty. You just gotta listen to it. In the liner notes it tells the story about that when this was played for the Queen, the maids scrubbing the floors in the adjoining hallway put down their brushes and started dancing. Ignore the video on this one too, because the conductor overemotes. Those crazy Japanese www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NeQ1h6lzLI16. Last words?

Which one and why.My favorite island is Gorgossium. Its so dark and beautifully intricate and filled with nightmares. It sounds like an intriguing place. I also looove Odom's spire. Its so mysterious. I'd love to find out all the wealth of knowledge and what else is on it. I also love the nonce and its ability to create new life instantly. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come?No I don't think I do... 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story?I would have Clive tell us more about Mater Motley and their family history. I really want to know more. Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us?I'm not sure what my special talent would be... hmm 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. My favorite shows right now are Legend of the Seeker, Heroes and Toradora. Watch them and find happiness. hah 16. Last words? The best things in life are free... but money is what I want (wishful thinking)

1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? I read Abarat for the first time in.... 2004, I think it was. I got it as a birthday present, which I wasn't too thrilled about at first cuz I wasn't the biggest reader back then and didn't really see books as what one would call a present, lol. But I started reading soon after that and was captivated by the world it described. 2. Who is your favorite character and why? Aaaaaahhhhh, I'm not even sure, I like them all so much, x3 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why? Commexo Kid. He's scary. 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why. I like the Yebba Dim Day a LOT. I don't know why. Maybe because it was the first island we were introduced to and it really opened the gateway into the whole Abarat world. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? They are all so wonderful, :3 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? I would have the third book come out already! XD Age: 18, 19 in May Country/City/Nationality: Midwest of the US 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ I am a conceptualizer. I think. I come up with ideas. I write them down. Most of my ideas are for films. 8. What’s your favorite music? Anything that I can groove to. 9. And your favorite books/authors? Arthur O'Shaughnessy 10. And your favorite movies? Oh, man, don't get me started, 11. ABARAT - That Big Thing We All Have In Common
1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? I read Abarat for the first time when the first book came out in Fall of 2002 was it? I was reading People magazine and it had a book review in there for it and it sounded to compelling that I went to the bookstore that day and bought it.
2. Who is your favorite character and why? Christopher Carrion was my favorite character of course. Why I think it's because Carrion really represents an aspect that all humans have- that dark part of you that is addicted to power and getting more. The part that smothers out anything else that may exist in ones psyche if it is the main part of your personality that you identify with. I love that Barker shows that Carrion, like humans too, has love hidden somewhere deep down within him. It's twisted and tortured because his strong identification with the evil man that he is has a much stronger identification with his ego than does his more feminine side of love. Carrion is addicted to evil and power, it's how he was raised, it's what he knows. He is very human, yet at the same time he represents the archetypal dark man that is in all of our dreams at some point in our lives.
3. So, who is your least favorite character and why? I really disliked Wolfswinkel. He was just a whiney nasty little man and I couldn't wait for him to get what was coming to him.
4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why. I wouldn't want to live on Gorgossium persay, but it was one of my favourite places to hear about. I read that it was suppose to be like an Hiernonmous Bosche (sp) painting of Hell. Just the entire combination of it with the red mists and the towers made it visually appealing to imagine. I also liked Yebba Dim Day because it seems so lively.
5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? Hhhmm We haven't been to them all yet, but I suppose The Nonce was a very sad place to be.
6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? Oh god, Carrion would be alive that's for sure and you know me I'd like for characters who are so good and judgemental on him, I'd like for them to have to go to a hell and experience something to have some empathy for evil characters. Of course I would like to have seen more Carrion/Candy time and I would like to hear more about Motley involvement in Boa's death, because I have a suspicion she had something to do with it. So Let’s Get To Know Each Other
Age:31 Country/City/Nationality: Canada
7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ Run a Home Theatre Business, take care of my son.
8. What’s your favorite music?NIN, Classical, The Gossip, Evanescence, DM, Coldplay, Pet Shop Boys
9. And your favorite books/authors? Of course Clive Barkers' Abarat, HP series, Marion Woodman books, Eckhart Tolle, Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Animal Farm, Lord Of The Flies,
10. Annd your favorite movies? Star Wars, The Dark Knight, Legend, End Of Days, The Fountain, Clash Of The Titans, Across The Universe, Dracula (1992 and 1979), What The Bleep: Down The Rabbit Hole,
11. Other stuff you love? Jungian Psychology and Dream Analysis
12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? One day I'll try and post a picture I painted of Gorgossium.
13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must. Read above, I did a painting of Gorgossium, which actually just started out abstract and then i realized what it was looking like and I went with it.
14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us? Knitting, hhhmmm I might think about taking it up but I have poor patience lol.
15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. I think my three year old son Hayden is awesome and I can't wait until he's old enough so I can read him books like HP and Abarat!!!
16. Last words? Take care everyone, and I hope Book 3 comes out soon!

Lis77 how does a home theater business work? Do you mean you sell them? I'm sorry if that sounds like a stupid question. I'm just curious.

Lis77 how does a home theater business work? Do you mean you sell them? I'm sorry if that sounds like a stupid question. I'm just curious. Well basically we do custom home theaters, which means that we design and install a theatre in a clients home. So that can involve a variety of things depending on what the clients wants and how much money they have. You can have projection with a 100 inch screen and then of course theirs all the amps and speakers and sub woofers. There is furniture. You can also do things like have a tv on your wall that has a picture frame around it, so that when you're not using it as a tv it becomes either a mirror or an actual work of art. So many things a person can do. But it's basically customized little movie theaters or home entertainment. Lots of crazy technology.

1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time?A friend that I met online recommended it to me, actually. I believe I read it in late 2005/early 2006, and the sequel immediately after. 2. Who is your favorite character and why?Christopher Carrion, with no hesitation whatsoever. He's honestly one of my favorite characters of all time. There are so many complexities to him, and he's actually quite a surprising antagonist. All of the paintings, the imagery, the creativity and the themes in this series combined don't do as much for me as his character alone. I do also like Wolfswinkel and Shape, though. Shape is just so cynical that it makes me laugh, and most of the things Wolfswinkel says to Candy are actually very logical and justified. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why?Boa. She's so underdeveloped. Most of what we know about her is what other characters have told Candy, which is extremely biased. The rest is in flashbacks or briefly at the end of the second book, and both of those times she doesn't seem anywhere near as angelic or kindhearted as we're led to believe. We don't even know what it is that makes her so likable, we just hear people say that she was. I could rant for hours 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why.I don't remember most of them, but I'm going to have to go with Gorgossium because of its abundance of man-made and naturally-occurring danger. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come?I don't know if I do. I don't think I'd enjoy being on Babilonium, because I don't like being in crowds. 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story?Well, I would do some serious proofreading and fix all the errors in it. As for the storyline itself, though, I would offer some kind of explanation for Shape's sudden and nonchalant appearance in the second book. There's no way I was the only one who thought he died in the first one. I would either expand more upon Boa or make at least one character besides Mater Motley realize that she's not that great. Age: 18 Country/City/Nationality: USA 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ Well, I get by. I try to take life in stride and remember that the universe is a very big and very old place, so by now it probably knows what it's doing. 8. What’s your favorite music? That's hard to choose. I love symphonic/power metal (Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot), and I love film score. I also enjoy listening to Oingo Boingo =) 9. And your favorite books/authors? Currently I'm reading more of Clive Barker and Terry Pratchett. Books that I've read recently that I liked were The Glass Castle, Seabiscuit, The Memory Keeper's Daughter, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and The Dive From Clausen's Pier (except the last one depressed me more than any other book I'd read). 10. Annd your favorite movies? There's no way I can choose XD There are a few that I've watched recently and enjoyed: Memoirs of a Geisha, Brokeback Mountain (I cry like it's my job when I watch it), Eastern Promises, V for Vendetta, The Iron Giant, The Flight of Dragons, and Blood Diamond. 11. Other stuff you love? I love to read, write, edit, study foreign languages...basically anything to do with words. I love my piano, animals, nighttime, fruit, forests, and crazy socks. 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? I'm a little embarrassed to say that I spend most of my spare time doing chores and cleaning, by choice. It's therapeutic for me. 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must. My mom travels a lot, so our entire house is decorated with cool souvenirs and artifacts. It's like cultures from all around the world are thrown together in one house, and that's the way the Abarat feels: like there's so much diversity in a handful of small islands. 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us? I've definitely written fanfiction, but I took them all off the internet. I was going to write a series of songs based off of characters/places/events in the Abarat, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen or not. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. Uhh...I always recommend Oingo Boingo. They're weird and only a few other people I know have heard of them. Just don't start off by watching the music video to "Insanity." It's a little bit creepy. I also encourage people to reduce, reuse and recycle =) 16. Last words?Right after an initial reaction and second thoughts.

I can't believe I haven't done this before!! Oops!
1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? I picked it up on an after-school libary outing with my best friend at the time. We were in sixth grade. The fact that I couldn't read the title intrigued me, so I took it down. I read the inside cover, thought it was worth a try, and picked it up.
2. Who is your favorite character and why? Carrion, because he is so complex (and I tend to fall for the bad guys anyway).
3. So, who is your least favorite character and why? Probably Finnegan, but I also really dislike Pixler.
4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why. Hmmm...I really like Babilonium, it seems like it would be fun!
5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? Not really, I wish we got to know all of them a little better though, in the story I mean.
6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? Candy didn't escape from Mister Masper's house.
Age: 16 going on 17
Country/City/Nationality: USA, Colorado, Caucasian
7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ I build things in my theatre. I shine lights on actors. I hide the scene by pulling the curtain. I run around a lot in all black clothing. Really, whatever needs to be done that has to deal with technical theatre. I am still learning. =)
8. What’s your favorite music? The Cure, Dresden Dolls, lots of different things, but mostly older rock and alternative and musicals.
9. And your favorite books/authors? The Perks of Being a Wallflower is my all time. I read a lot but it is hard for me to pick favorites.
10. Annd your favorite movies? Edward Scissorhands. Basically anything Time Burton and/or Johnny Depp. V for Vendetta. The Bourne Trilogy, LOTR, RHPS, Hair, etc
11. Other stuff you love? theatre?! ;D Pizza, fake meat entrees, reading, writing, music, mountains, nature, the internet, mac n' cheese, The Joker, and my boyfriend.
12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? I like to read, write poetry/satires/short stories, browse the internetz, watch movies, stuff like that.
13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must. My signed copies of both books, that's for sure!! I don't know, can't really put my finger on anything.
14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us? I have written some fics, but they haven't been updated in a couple of years ( I am working on it...every six months or so!)
15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. The Joker Blogs, but only because I am a Heath fan. youtube.com/thejokerblogs
16. Last words? "There is no genius without some touch of madness"

1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? I found Abarat behind a shelf in my High school library just after Christmas break '08. I had it checked out the entire year, and when the librarian asked about it, I "lost it" until the last day of school. I had a good time scaring my friends with it. Apparently the soft cover book's front picture of Carrion is scary... > 2. Who is your favorite character and why? Carrion. No one else comes close. Why? ...I have no idea. I just instantly decided I liked him, partly because I have a thing for bad guys. He's also a lot more human than most villains. He's not perfect, and that makes him a very likable character. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why? Finnegan. I don't know why, I just hate him. There's a small chance it's because Carrion doesn't like him, but... 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why. Gorgossium is kind of neat, but I don't think I'd live very long. Probably Scoriae, or 4 or 5 a.m. (I'm totally blanking on the names!) 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? Pyon. A city of light among the night hours is just wrong. 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? I'd bring Carrion back to life. I think Candy and Carrion are meant for each other. Who knows? So Let’s Get To Know Each Other Age: Young... Fine, 13. Country/City/Nationality: Minnesota, U.S. 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ School and track. I write a little, poetry, mostly, and fanfics I haven't posted anywhere yet. I read a LOT, mostly fiction. I dream, think, laugh with friends, and obsess over Abarat. Just a typical teenage girl. 8. What’s your favorite music? I listen to a variety, including but not limited to: Katy Parry, Nickelback, Paramore, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Celine Dion, Flyleaf, 3 Doors Down, Kamelot, T.a.t.u., and my favorite since I was an itty-bitty, Evanescence. 9. And your favorite books/authors? Clive Barker, Tamora Pierce, Avi, Erin Hunter, Plato, Emily Rodda, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Christopher Paolini, Bruce Coville, Anne McCaffrey, and many, many others. 10. And your favorite movies? Labyrinth, Pan's Labyrinth, Pride and Prejudice, The Corpse Bride, and a few others. I'll watch really anything. 11. Other stuff you love? Books, art, fantasy, fanfics, facebook, poetry, starry nights, kittens, children, and Love itself. I'm a hopeless romantic. 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must. Everything reminds me of Abarat. 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us? Well, I'm not quite that good at knitting. I tried to write a poem about Carrion and Boa; didn't turn out so good. It's on fanfiction.com, under Abarat. I think. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. ? 16. Last words? Love is love, no matter who it happens to. Abarat is my life. Um... Go Trojans. Have a nice night.

I thought it was about time I actually posted this up, after finally re-discovering the thread ;D When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? It’s been so long since I first found Abarat, but I know I was back in college at the time so at least, 5 years ago? I randomly found it in the horror section, as I was looking for adventure stories where the lead character was female. (There are too many books about boys getting to do all the cool stuff, where are the girls?) I didn’t read it for a long time, just looked at the cover a lot. 2. Who is your favorite character and why? It’s always been Christopher Carrion, I was rooting for him since his character was introduced. Actually I think it mainly comes down to how Clive Barker wrote about him, giving us just a little info at a time, and keeping us wondering. There was so much mystery. Plus he was only one who you kind of see what might be coming next for. Plus I just loved his sarcastic humour. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why?Um… well everyone seems to have a purpose… Maybe that thing that chased Candy in the 25th hour, with its eyes and mouth creeping about on his face. That was ick. 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why.If I was brave enough, I’d travel to Midnight and work in a pub or something. That would be awesome. But I’d probably head towards Commexo City, because it’d be exciting to be in the midst of advancement. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? Not really, I mean there are plenty that I wouldn’t want to visit alone. Most are pretty scary. 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story?I’d have some more character’s tell stories about how evil Christopher Carrion is, so that Candy’s fear of him would be better founded and understandable. Plus then you wouldn’t know what was true, and what was false. So Let’s Get To Know Each Other ;D Age: 22 Country/City/Nationality: England/ South-West/ British 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^I am a student nurse, I spend half my time at university, and the other half working in my local hospital. I really enjoy surgery, especially watching it. Best thing about being a student is you can rock up anywhere and tag along with anyone. Everyone loves showing off, so there is loads to learn and see. 8. What’s your favorite music?I love seeing bands live, this year I saw Britney’s Circus tour. It was good, but it hasn’t knocked the Rolling Stones off my top spot, utter legends, and so freaking good live! Muse are awesome live too, although now they’re famous and stuff, I doubt they’ll be swinging by my hometown anymore. The Rolling Stones, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Kings of Leon, Rasputina, Goldfrapp, The Kinks, The Prodigy, Scissor Sisters, The Ting Tings, System of a Down, Lily Allen, Lady GaGa, Kanye West, Beyonce, Madonna…. The list goes on and on…. 9. And your favorite books/authors?Phillipa Gregory’s Tudors series, His Dark Materials, Mort, Harry Potter, Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal, Everything by Jane Austin, Treasure Island, Karen Chance’s Cassie Palmer series. 10. And your favorite movies?Casino, Memoirs of a Geisha, Pulp Fiction, Howls Moving Castle, Sex and the City. I like watching a lot of period dramas, I watched pride and prejudice so much the picture went fuzzy. Actually everything by Quentin Tarantino. Gentlemen prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire. 11. Other stuff you love?Musicals! I love London’s west end, sadly I live a little too far away to go as often as I’d like. I love theme parks, especially Alton Towers and the stupidly scary Oblivion ride. Sun-Holidays! 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? I don’t have a lot of spare time anymore, and any that I do I tend to spend using my brain for more creative purposes, and putting all the academic books away. 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must.My tortoise Edward, looks just like Christopher Carrion. He looks at you in a knowing way as well. He knows all!! 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us?I hang out a lot on deviant art, creating lots of rubbishy Abarat fanart. I don’t have anything fancy to draw with, just pencils *sob* I’d like to upgrade, but don’t know what to buy. redstockings.deviantart.com/Also I write a lot of fanfics. I was super depressed about the lack of Abarat fanfics out there, so I decided to write a few of my own. The Clive Barker section on ffnet is a lot more crowded these days, whoohoo! www.fanfiction.net/u/399669/Red_StockingsI’ve written Carrion/OC, Carrion/Candy, Carrion/Boa/Finnegan. Although Abaratian has sold me on the Carrion/Quiffin pairing, so maybe that’s in the offering for the future. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTHn5oFPmi8www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOIrXGd51jE16. Last words? Yay Abarat!!

1. When and why did you read Abarat for the first time? When my mom got me addicted to audio books, I happened to wander by the young adult audio section at the age of 14 (five or so years ago). The cover was beautiful, I listened to it, and realized that there were pictures in the books that I needed to see. Ever since then, I was hooked. 2. Who is your favorite character and why? Can I have a top three? In that case, those three would be Malingo, Christopher Carrion, and Deaux-Deaux. I love Malingo because I have a soft spot for cuties. Carrion is so deeply emotional that I can't help but love him. Deaux-Deaux...umm...I just like him. I really don't know why. He needs cuddles. 3. So, who is your least favorite character and why? Boagan. Yeah. I don't like them so much that I can't seperate their names. 4. How about your favorite island? Which one and why. I'd enjoy the Nonce beause of the constant new landscapes. I love new things, and this island matches perfectly to me. 5. Do you have a least favorite island? How come? The 25th hour. It's just so...creepy. *shudder* At least Gorgossium shows its terrors outright. Never know what's gonna hit you at Odom's Spire. 6. What, if anything, would you change in the story? Candy's reaction to Carrion! Oh, I flinched each time she kept rejecting him! She hardly gave him a chance, just because she couldn't see that there is no such thing as evil evil and good good. There can be gray inbetween the black and white. So Let’s Get To Know Each Other Age: 19 (almost 20 XD) Country/City/Nationality: United States/ Bloomington/ Mixed breed 7. What do you do? Really, interpret this question as you will. ^ ^ I adore writing. I tried being a biology major to please my parents, but I just knew that it wasn't my subject. I changed to English writing, and hopefully I'll be an author in the future. I could start teaching as well. Who knows? 8. What’s your favorite music? I have a wide range. This is just a sample. (Within Temptation, Lady Gaga, Slipknot, Fall Out Boy, David Cook, classical music, celtic music, soundtracks, vocal music) I'm really into anything. 9. And your favorite books/authors? Clare B Dunkle, Tamora Pierce, Meg Cabot, Joseph Delaney, C. S. Lewis, Tolkien...others I can't think of right now 10. Annd your favorite movies? Disney Movies, The Grudge, Underworld (all), Van Helsing, Miasaki films, anime movies, musicals, and I would elborate, but I am braindead right now 11. Other stuff you love? drawing, cats, reading, web surfing, video games, fantasy items 12. You’ve got any spare time stuff that you’d like to share? I write fantasy stories to my best friend. I try to keep my writing fresh and up to date. Yes. I'm weird. 13. Stuff at home that reminds you of Abarat! Piccies are appreciated, but it’s not a must. Well, I live in the middle of a cornfield. There is this weird structure set next to the city smakc dab in the center of said cornfield. I have never investigated, yet whenever I pass by...I hope that John would, you know, say hello....T_T 14. Speshul talents goes here. Have you written fics, made graphics or fanart? Maybe knitted a Malingo sweater? Link us? When I first heard the books, I wrote a quiz for quizilla. Very Mary Sue. Then, in order to fill the Abarat void, I wrote Ponderings and Light and Dark. After that...nothing much. I plan to write something, though. 15. Rec us something! It doesn’t have to be Abarat related, just something that you think is awesome that we should know about. Dr. Pepper! <3 16. Last words? One of these days, Mr. Barker, one of these days!
