BEGINS: FEB 18 CHAPTER: 3 - Doodle
I am posting this thread to make all aware that on Wed February 18, 2009 you all can begin discussing in this thread anything that has to do with the third chapter of the Abarat.
If any one discussion point comes up that seems really interesting and others want to go further it with it let me suggest the starter of the topic begin a new thread for it so it doesn't congest this thread. I can't wait to hear all the points you want to bring up that you liked, dislikes, thought was interesting or whatnot. Thanks.
NEXT WEEK: FEB 25 CHAPTER: 4 - "Street Ends"

I guess no one had anything to say about this chapter. It is pretty short But I had something:
I was wondering: Do you think Miss Schwartz has no idea about Henry Murkitt and all of that? Or do you think she's heard about it and doesn't believe it? I don't know - I still find it hard to believe there's a whole Chickentown history that the population doesn't know about :/

I think that it was a secret even way back when it was a reality. Otherwise the whole world would have known, right? It still confuses me how they could keep a whole sea secret, and a whole other universe besides... I mean, it's a pretty big secret. I think there were people in Chickentown who didn't know even when it was happening under their noses. If I had to guess I would say it had to be some sort of spell, either one that concealed the place by magic or that erased the memories of the ones who stumbled upon it, or crossed over by mistake. Rumors and stories that became local myths and legends and after a hundred years nobody was alive to remember at all. I have no idea, I'm just guessing.

Yeah I dont think Mrs. Schwartz knew but wouldn't that be a kick if she did. ha.
I'm guessing back when the lighthouse and the dock was still up and running that the town wasn't as large so maybe not that many people even have relatives or ancesters who lived in the town when all that was occuring... and then from all the time that has passed it probably just turned into some weird hooblah legend that no one believes anyways.
But its just a thought... I'm not really basing this off of anything really.

Sorry, I'm dragging chapter Three back into the fold. Miss Schwartz is one hard taskmaster, certainly she's a petty woman whose whole world is that little classroom of her's, I'm not surprised she doesnt know about the Sea. If it's not happening in the classroom, she'd probably not interested.
She's up there with Bill, in my least like characters list.
Also, there appears to be hints in this chapter that Candy is not quite in control of herself, her decisons or movements. What does this say for future revelations?
