Cabal is actually my favorite book by Clive Barker (although Abarat is climbing up next to it on its shelf). It's the very concept that gets to me first, of a whole city of freaks, outcasts and wonderful creatures with simply no place in the world as it is today. The Tribes of The Moon has been hunted to the brink of extinction, and those that are left have a safe haven in Midian.
I love the characters too. Peloquin is my favorite by far. ;D But the others... Boon, Lori, Kinski, Shuna Sassi and more. All of them are in my hearts after that book. <3

I've never heard of this one before. I'll have to read it sometime. It sounds interesting.

You should! It's really lovely! It's also pretty short, which is kind of sad when I htink about how good it is, but hey.
